GARAGE FLOOR COATING
COLORS & FLAKE BLENDS.

Garage floor coatings come in three looks: a solid color, a decorative flake blend (the speckled, showroom finish most people picture), or a marbled metallic. Flake is the most popular because it hides wear, adds grip and lets you match the floor to your home. Below is a visual guide to the blends — and remember, you choose your exact color from real sample chips at your estimate, not off a screen.

• The three looks

SOLID, FLAKE, OR METALLIC.

Before you pick a color, pick a finish — it changes how much wear the floor hides, how much grip it has, and how dramatic it looks.

Solid color

A single, uniform color with no chips — clean and modern. It shows dust, tire marks and every imperfection in the slab more than a flake floor does, so it reads best in a showroom-style space you keep spotless. Solid is the least forgiving look for a working garage.

Decorative flake

Vinyl color chips broadcast into the base coat, then locked under a clear top coat. This is what most Magic Valley homeowners picture — a speckled, showroom finish that hides scuffs, adds grip and disguises slab flaws. The blend is where you make the floor yours.

Metallic

A pigmented metallic base that swirls into a marbled, almost-liquid depth — high-drama and glossy. It is a statement finish, less about hiding wear and more about a premium showroom look. It shows footprints and dust more than flake, so it suits display and hobby garages best.

• It is not just the color

FLAKE SIZE & DENSITY CHANGE EVERYTHING.

Two floors in the same color family can look completely different depending on the chips.

Chip size sets the character. Small, fine flake reads as a subtle, uniform texture from standing height — almost like stone. Large, quarter-sized flake reads bold and architectural, with each chip visible. Most garages land in between.

Density — how heavily we broadcast — sets how much base color shows through. A full broadcast (flake to refusal) buries the base entirely for a rich, all-chip look and maximum wear-hiding. A partial broadcast lets the base color peek through between chips for a lighter, more open finish. Denser is more forgiving; lighter is cleaner.

The clear top coat then sets the sheen — a high-gloss polyaspartic gives the deep, wet-look shine most homeowners want, while a satin clear reads softer and hides dust a touch better. Same chips, different mood.

• Representative flake blends

PICTURE YOUR FLOOR.

A feel for the color families we install most. These tiles are a representative simulation of each blend's style — the exact chips are shown to you at your estimate.

Domino

Black, white & grey — the crisp, high-contrast classic that suits almost any garage.

Slate

Layered greys — a calm, neutral floor that reads clean without the contrast of Domino.

Coffee

Warm browns & tan — a rich, earthy blend that hides Idaho dust and dirt exceptionally well.

Cabin

Mixed earth tones — browns, greens and tan for a rustic, outdoorsy feel that fits a mountain-town garage.

Tidal

Blues with grey — a cooler, distinctive blend for a floor that stands apart from the usual neutrals.

Rust

Warm reds, amber & charcoal — a bold, garage-heritage look with real depth and character.

Colors on a screen never match a physical chip — lighting, monitor and the simulation all shift the look. Treat these as a starting point, then get real sample chips in your own garage light.

• Choosing the right blend

MATCH IT TO YOUR HOME.

A garage floor should feel like it belongs with the house it is attached to — here is how we help you land on the right color.

  • Pull from what is already there. The easiest wins echo an existing color — your exterior trim, a stone accent, the cabinets going in, or the tone of your home's siding. A blend that nods to those reads intentional.
  • Decide how hard the garage works. A daily-driver, project and storage garage wants a busier, mid-tone flake that hides tire marks and dust. A clean showroom or display garage can carry a solid color or a dramatic metallic.
  • Think about light. Idaho garages range from dim to bright depending on doors and lighting. Lighter blends open up a dark garage; darker blends keep a bright, south-facing garage from looking washed out.
  • Coordinate the cabinets. If Garage Pro Signature cabinets are part of the project, we pick the floor and cabinet colors together so the whole space reads as one design, not two.

YOUR FINAL COLOR IS CHOSEN FROM REAL CHIPS, ON-SITE.

Nothing on a website is the real thing. That is why the last step before install is always the same: we bring physical sample chips to your free in-person estimate, lay them out in your actual garage light, and you pick the blend you can see and hold. What you choose in your garage is exactly what we install — no surprises, no guessing off a screen.

• Quick answers

COLOR QUESTIONS.

Can I really pick any color for my garage floor?

Yes — flake comes in a wide range of blends, from subtle greys and tans to bolder blues and warm reds, and metallics come in many pigments. You choose from real sample chips at your free estimate so what you pick is exactly what gets installed.

Which flake color hides dirt the best?

Warmer, mid-tone blends with visual busyness — browns, tans and mixed earth tones like our Coffee and Cabin looks — hide dust, tire marks and everyday grime the best. Solid colors and very light or very dark solids show the most.

Do the swatches on this page match exactly?

No — the swatches here are representative of the style and color family only. Screens and simulated chips never match a physical sample perfectly, so we bring real manufacturer chip samples to your estimate and you choose from those in your own garage light.
